|Trying out the swine flu self diagnosis website

I’ve just been on the self-diagnosis website of the National Pandemic flu service. For a male hypochondriac like me it’s a scary experience.
First the good news: I do not have swine flu. The bad news is I may be in the early stages of having a heart attack.
It starts gradually enough by asking to tick one of two boxes: ‘I am unwell with flu-like symptoms or I have no symptoms but am concerned about swine flu.’
I answered yes to number one. Then came the scary bit. Its then asks you whether you have pain in or across the centre of your chest, or in your shoulder, arm or jaw swelling around my lips. Well, yes….for quite a while. Maybe it was that extra drink last night.
Press continue and this is what you get: “Pain in the shoulder, arm or jaw may also be a symptom of a heart condition if it’s spreading from the chest. This may be felt as a discomfort or pain and will be there even when you are resting. Answer Yes if you feel pain in any of these areas. I answered yes.
And this is what I got.
Great I haven’t got swine flu. But am probably having a heart attack. You can take the test yourself here
